Smoked White Oak / Herringbone

Smoked White Oak herringbone carries a 3mm wear layer of European oak on a multi-layered engineered board, 14mm thick in total. Blocks measure 90 × 400mm, with a tongue and groove fitting profile.

The blocks are stored in a smoke-filled chamber that naturally ages the timber and darkens the grain. The oak surface is then brushed and sealed with clear white oils, adding a beautifully muted, earthy hue across the surface.

The finish

Smoked, then coloured.

Two colour steps working against each other on purpose. The board is chamber-smoked first, darkening the grain through the wear layer, then brushed and finished with a coloured UV oil laid over the top.

The result keeps the grain legible — smoked depth underneath, a lighter wash across the surface — rather than flattening it under opaque colour. Smoking reacts to each board’s tannin, so expect tone to move across a pack.

About the grade

Rustic means character.

Rustic grade (CD) works with the natural character of the timber rather than sorting it out. That is worth understanding before you order.

Expect visible knots of varying size, both heartwood and sapwood, colour variation between boards, and small checks and end shake stabilised with tinted filler. These are grade features, not manufacturing defects — they are what the rustic label means.

KnotsPresent throughout, varying in size. Filler-stabilised where needed.
Colour variationBoard-to-board variation is part of the grade. Includes sapwood.
FillerTinted to complement wood tone; may contrast with knots for character.
Batch variationFiller and finish can vary slightly between batches — order in one go where possible.
