Natural Oak / Herringbone

Natural Oak herringbone carries a 3mm wear layer of European oak on a multi-layered engineered board, 14mm thick in total. Blocks measure 90 × 400mm, with a tongue and groove fitting profile.

The rustic surface is simply smooth sanded, buffed and then sealed with clear oils. The result stays true to natural oak tones, with rustic appeal, a rich lustre and a subtle natural sheen.

The finish

Smooth sanded, clear oil.

No brushing and no colour: the surface is sanded flat and sealed with V4’s clear UV oil, cured at the factory. What you see is the timber’s own tone, with a low lustre rather than a sheen.

A smooth-sanded floor shows scuffs more readily than a brushed one — that is the trade for a calmer surface. The upside is repairability: clear oil can be cut back and re-applied in one area without refinishing the whole floor.

About the grade

Rustic means character.

Rustic grade (CD) works with the natural character of the timber rather than sorting it out. That is worth understanding before you order.

Expect visible knots of varying size, both heartwood and sapwood, colour variation between boards, and small checks and end shake stabilised with tinted filler. These are grade features, not manufacturing defects — they are what the rustic label means.

KnotsPresent throughout, varying in size. Filler-stabilised where needed.
Colour variationBoard-to-board variation is part of the grade. Includes sapwood.
FillerTinted to complement wood tone; may contrast with knots for character.
Batch variationFiller and finish can vary slightly between batches — order in one go where possible.
