By the time the floor comes up in conversation, you've usually had months of decisions behind you. Kitchen, bathrooms, paint, lighting, the kids' rooms, the bit at the back you weren't planning to touch but now are. The last thing you need is another trade making it harder.
That's really what we're good at. Not just supplying a beautiful floor — fitting our part of the job neatly into everyone else's.
What we actually understand
Most renovations don't go wrong because of one trade. They go wrong in the gaps between them. The kitchen fitter's a day late, the painter needs the floor down before he can finish the skirting, the underfloor heating engineer needs to commission before anything goes anywhere — and suddenly your week has fallen apart.
We've been in enough of those weeks to know how to work inside one:
- We're realistic on timings. If we say Tuesday, we mean Tuesday. If something's tight, we'll tell you before you've planned the rest of the trades around it.
- We talk to your other trades directly. Your kitchen fitter, your builder, your decorator — we'd rather have a five-minute call with them than have you pass messages back and forth.
- We know what has to happen before we arrive, and what can wait until after. We'll flag it early, not on the morning of.
- We leave a clean site every day. Not just at the end of the job. Other trades have to use the space too, and so do you.
It sounds simple. In practice, on a live renovation, it's the thing that makes the difference between a smooth fortnight and a stressful one.
Who we are
AK is Altin and his son Kevin. A family-run business, started in Weybridge in 2019, with more than twenty years of London hardwood work behind it — everything from a straightforward engineered floor in a hallway, through intricate herringbone medallions and chevron installations in Kensington, to restoration work in buildings where the floor has been there longer than anyone living above it.
We're a focused operation. The projects we take on are often substantial — full-house fits, multi-room renovations, intricate pattern work — but the team running them is deliberately tight. There's no account manager, no ticketing system, no new face turning up on day three. You'll deal with the same handful of people from quote to handover, and the work gets the attention it should.

The showroom on Queens Road has a curated selection of engineered oak, herringbone, chevron and parquet. Everything on display is something we've installed in real homes and watched age.
Drop in whenever. If you'd like a proper conversation, give us a call first and we'll set the time aside. Bring whatever you're matching against — paint, fabric, a kitchen door sample. The showroom isn't precious, and children are welcome.
