Warranty Information

This sets out what is covered on floors we supply, and on floors we fit. It applies to orders placed with AK Hardwood Flooring.

1 · The floor — manufacturer's warranty

Every floor we supply carries its manufacturer's warranty against manufacturing defects: delamination, failure of the factory finish, and defects present in the board before it was laid.

The period is set by the manufacturer and differs by floor. It is listed on the product page. If it is not shown there, ask us. We will provide the manufacturer's full warranty document on request, before or after purchase.

A manufacturer's warranty is valid only where the floor has been installed and maintained in accordance with that manufacturer's published instructions, including their requirements for subfloor condition, acclimatisation, room temperature and humidity, expansion gaps, adhesive type, and underfloor heating.

2 · The installation — our guarantee

Where we prepare the subfloor and fit the floor, we guarantee the installation for 12 months from the date of completion, provided the work has been paid for in full.

This covers faults arising from how the floor was laid: lifting, gapping, hollow spots, and failure of the bond.

It applies to the original customer at the original address and is not transferable.

It does not cover manufacturing defects in the boards, which are covered at 1 above.

Where we supplied the floor and it was fitted by someone else, the installation is a matter between you and whoever carried out the work.

3 · Not covered by either

  • Scratches, dents, chips and general wear
  • Water damage and escape of water
  • Damage from pets, grit, unprotected furniture feet, or furniture dragged across the boards
  • Colour change from sunlight, and colour, grain and grade variation between boards and between batches
  • Seasonal expansion and contraction
  • Floors not maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions
  • Damp or movement originating in a subfloor prepared by others
  • Use in bathrooms, wet rooms, and other areas of high or uncontrolled humidity
  • Alterations or repairs carried out by others after completion

4 · If something goes wrong

Come to us. At that stage it does not matter whether the problem is with the boards or with the way they were laid — working that out is our job, not yours.

We come and inspect the floor ourselves first. If it is a manufacturing fault, we take the claim to the manufacturer and run it through their own process, which we know because we fit to it. If it is down to the installation and we laid the floor, we put it right. Either way it stays with us. You are never asked to work out whose fault it is, and you never have to chase the manufacturer yourself.

Tell us within 30 days of noticing the problem. Email info@akhardwood.co.uk or call 01932 640 611, Mon–Fri 9:00–17:00, Sat 10:30–15:00. Send your order number, close-up photographs of the fault, one photograph showing the whole floor, and when you first noticed it.

Where a claim is upheld we will repair the floor, replace the affected boards, or refund the value of the affected area. An exact colour match cannot be guaranteed on a floor that has been down for some years.

5 · Your statutory rights

Nothing in this warranty reduces your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The floor must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose, and as described. If it is not, you have 30 days from delivery to reject it for a refund, and for the first six months a fault is presumed to have been present at delivery unless we can show otherwise. This warranty is in addition to those rights, not instead of them.

6 · Who gives this warranty

The installation guarantee at 2 is given by AK Myrta Construction Ltd, trading as AK Hardwood Flooring, company number 11207005, Unit A/B Investment House, 28 Queens Road, Weybridge, Surrey, KT13 9UT. It applies to floors we install.

The warranty at 1 is given by the manufacturer of the floor. Where the floor was bought from us, we deal with them on your behalf.

Effective September 2026.
